Pro Racing Tactics: Mastering Braking Points, Racing Lines, and Apex Turns

The Geometry of the Ideal Racing Line

Every corner on a race track has an entry point, an apex (the geometric clipping point on the inside of the bend), and an exit point. Taking the classic 'out-in-out' trajectory maximizes corner radius, allowing you to carry higher minimum speed through the bend.

Understanding Trail Braking

Rather than completing 100% of your braking in a straight line before turning, trail braking involves gradually tapering off brake pressure while turning toward the apex. This transfers weight to the front tires, providing extra grip to prevent understeer.
